An excerpt from a book my brain won't let me finish

"I love you too, but not as you do." She said taking a step back as she removed a strand of hair that fell to hair face and looked up at me. "It would mess up everything we ever had." She continued, "I think it would be better if we just remained friends." "Yeah," I replied, flashing my signature smile, "that's cool with me." I hugged her for what I knew was the last time and turned to leave. "You'll find someone," she called to me."Someone who'd love you wholely..." I turned still smiling, "I'm sure I will." I replied. But just not in this life. I waved at her before walking backwards into oncoming traffic. I saw her scream and felt my bones break as an SUV collided with my body and I was thrown 10 feet in the air. Free-falling to the asphalt I played one last memory as my eyes closed. Her smiling. Not in this life Lily, not in this one...
