a poem to my lover on New Year's Eve
When the fireworks begin,
And the sound of knockouts come storming down,
Would you still remember the butterflies within?
When the hangover has cleared off those ocean eyes,
And the smell of booze is off your shirt,
Would you still remember the good times we shared?
When the holiday sauce has altered your taste buds,
And the hickeys are off your neck and cheeks,
Would you still remember the taste of my lips?
When the harmattan is gone,
And you need no one to warm you up,
Would you still remember the warmth of my hug?
When you're far away,
And the going gets tough,
Tell me Pumpkin, would you still remember my love?
